These aircrafts are planned to be open for passengers by 2029.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are Supersonic Flights?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Supersonic aircraft <\/strong>are planes that can fly faster than the speed of sound.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Usually<\/strong>, supersonic planes can travel at the speed of around 900 kmph, twice the speed of normal aircraft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>First Supersonic Aircraft:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Concorde,<\/strong> the British-French turbojet-powered commercial airliner, was the first aircraft to carry passengers at supersonic speed.<\/li>\n<li>But eventually, the aircraft had to be <strong>discontinued<\/strong> due to cost and other concerns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What about the Overture supersonic aircraft?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Overture supersonic aircraft <\/strong>would travel at the speed of <strong>Mach 1.7 or 1,805 kmph<\/strong>. In a single flight, it could carry 65 to 88 passengers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The aircraft will also not be noisy, <\/strong>as supersonic planes in the past were, as it aims for \u201c<strong>zero overland noise.<\/strong>\u201d\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Zero overland noise <\/strong>essentially means that the aircraft will fly at supersonic speeds only overwater. Thereby ensuring no sonic boom or excessive noise reaches the surfaces where people live.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Challenges with Supersonic Flights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Environment Pollution:<\/strong> The costs of making sustainable supersonic planes are extremely high. This is because using excessive amounts of fuel and energy is likely to have high environmental costs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Excessive Noise: <\/strong>Travelling faster than the speed of sound causes a sonic boom which can be heard on the ground as a loud thunderclap or explosion. This limits where and when the supersonic planes can fly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>High Cost: <\/strong>Supersonic aircraft would not be economically feasible for everyone. However, for the first time in history, the dam has been filled with Narmada water.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>About Sardar Sarovar Dam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam <\/strong>is a terminal dam built on the Narmada river at Kevadia in Gujarat\u2019s Narmada district. The dam is called the \u2018<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lifeline of Gujarat<\/span>\u2019.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Indian States: <\/strong>The four Indian states namely Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan receive water and electricity supply from the dam. They share the water as per the ratio stipulated by the<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> 1979 award of the Narmada Water Dispute Tribunal<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Construction of the Dam: <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The foundation stone of the dam<\/strong> was laid out by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1961.<\/li>\n<li><strong>However, the construction of the dam<\/strong> was stopped by the Supreme Court of India in 1995 over concerns of displacement of people.<\/li>\n<li><strong>In 2000\u201301<\/strong>, the project was again revived but with a lower height under directions from SC. But its height was later again increased to 139 metres in 2017.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The dam <\/strong>was then inaugurated in 2017 by the present Prime minister.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Water Management Initiatives that helped to harness water for the Dam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>During the monsoon<\/strong>, the Sardar Sarovar Dam operation is well synchronised with the rain forecast in the catchment area. The government ensures minimum water flows downstream into the sea and maximum water is used during the dam overflow period. It also aims to raise public awareness of the potential dangers of buying medicines online.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The first time <\/strong>Operation Pangea was conducted was in 2008.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Led by: <\/strong>The operation is coordinated by INTERPOL. It involved police, customs and health regulatory authorities from 92 countries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India: <\/strong>Indian agencies also participated in the operation. This is followed by reasons such as fatigue, headache and dizziness, fever and chills and gastrointestinal symptoms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>However, <\/strong>most of these side effects were mild and lasted only a few days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) <\/strong>represents a group of intestinal disorders that cause prolonged inflammation of the digestive tract.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Types: <\/strong>The two most common IBDs are ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn\u2019s disease:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ulcerative Colitis(UC) <\/strong>involves inflammation of the large intestine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Crohn\u2019s disease <\/strong>can cause inflammation in any part of the digestive tract. They shall also be trained to provide <strong>psycho-social support<\/strong> and <strong>timely updates<\/strong> about patients to the administration.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thirdly, <\/strong>local leaders, civil societies and volunteers will also work with district administrations to address emerging problems across key focus areas of the Aspirational Districts Programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance of the campaign: <\/strong>The Surakshit Hum Surakshit Tum Abhiyaan campaign is expected to contribute to <strong>district preparedness<\/strong> for managing nearly 70% of COVID cases at home. Hence, it shall reduce pressure on the healthcare system and curbing the spread of fear among the people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About Transformation of Aspirational Districts programme (TADP):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/7-pm-niti-aayogs-aspirational-districts-programme-is-a-laboratory-for-governance-reform-4th-november-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TADP programme<\/a><\/strong> was launched in 2018.
