It has its own constitution, democratically-elected leaders and active troops in its armed forces.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The maritime boundary of Taiwan<\/strong> includes China (officially the PRC) on the west, Japan on the Northeast, and the Philippines on the south.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Taiwan <\/strong>is not a member of the UN (United Nations) and WHO (World Health Organization).<\/li>\n<li><strong>However, <\/strong>Taiwan is a member of WTO (World Trade Organization) and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) under the name of \u201cChinese Taipei\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>What is the China-Taiwan issue?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>China and Taiwan <\/strong>had separated during the China civil war in 1949.<\/li>\n<li><strong>However, China <\/strong>still considers Taiwan as part of its territory to be taken control of by force if necessary. Under which Taiwan would be given significant autonomy if it accepted Chinese reunification.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>This system was established<\/strong> in Hong Kong to be used as something of a showcase to entice Taiwanese people back to the mainland.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>However, Taiwan rejected <\/strong>the offer. But it did relax rules on visits to and investment in China. In 1991, it also proclaimed the war with the People&#8217;s Republic of China on the mainland to be over.<\/li>\n<li><strong>There are also limited unofficial talks<\/strong> between the two sides. But, China declared that Taiwan&#8217;s Republic of China(ROC) government is illegitimate. This meant that the government-to-government meetings couldn&#8217;t happen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: India and <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/taiwan-reunification-with-china-inevitable-says-chinese-president-xi-jinping\/\">Taiwan<\/a> do not have formal diplomatic relations.
