{"id":11474,"date":"2019-11-09T15:28:49","date_gmt":"2019-11-09T09:58:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=11474"},"modified":"2019-11-09T15:28:49","modified_gmt":"2019-11-09T09:58:49","slug":"govt-announces-steel-scrap-recycling-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/govt-announces-steel-scrap-recycling-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt. announces Steel Scrap Recycling Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News<\/strong>: Ministry of\nSteel has issued the Steel Scrap Recycling Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Steel Scrap Recycling\nPolicy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To promote circular economy in the steel sector.<\/li><li>To promote a formal and scientific collection,\ndismantling and processing activities for end of life products that are sources\nof recyclable (ferrous, non- ferrous and other non-metallic) scraps.<\/li><li>Processing and recycling of products in an\norganized, safe and environment friendly manner.<\/li><li>To evolve a responsive ecosystem by involving\nall stakeholders.<\/li><li>To produce high quality ferrous scrap for\nquality steel production thus minimizing the dependency on imports.<\/li><li>To decongest the Indian cities from End of Life\nVehicles (ELVs) and reuse of ferrous scrap<\/li><li>To create a mechanism for treating waste streams\nand residues produced from dismantling and shredding facilities in compliance\nto Hazardous &amp; Other Wastes (Management &amp; Trans boundary Movement)\nRules, 2016 <\/li><li>To promote 6Rs principles of Reduce, Reuse,\nRecycle, Recover, Redesign and Remanufacture<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A <strong>hub and\nthe spoke model<\/strong> has been promulgated to structure the informal ELV recycling\nsector and generate scrap:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/factly.forumias.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/scrap.png?w=750\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11475\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An Inter-Ministerial Coordination Committee has\nbeen set up for policy changes required for creating an organized steel\nscrapping eco system and to monitor the operationalization and enforcement of\nrelevant laws and regulations in this regard.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional\nInformation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>National Steel Policy\n2017<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vision:<\/strong> To create\na self-sufficient steel industry that is technologically advanced, globally competitive\nand promotes inclusive growth<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>Objectives:<\/strong> The National Steel Policy aims at achieving the\nfollowing objectives \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Build a globally competitive industry with a\ncrude steel capacity of 300 MT by<\/li><li>2030-31<\/li><li>Increase per Capita Steel Consumption to 160 Kgs\nby 2030-31<\/li><li>To domestically meet entire demand of high grade\nautomotive steel, electrical<\/li><li>steel, special steels and alloys for strategic\napplications by 2030-31<\/li><li>Increase domestic availability of washed coking\ncoal so as to reduce import<\/li><li>dependence on coking coal to 50% by 2030-31<\/li><li>To be net exporter of steel by 2025-26<\/li><li>Encourage industry to be a world leader on\nenergy and raw material efficient steel production by 2030-31, in a safe and\nsustainable manner<\/li><li>Develop and implement quality standards for\ndomestic steel products<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel Scrap Recycling Policy.
