FATF and Pakistan\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Many in the Pakistan are protesting this decision. They are of the view that their reforms to terror financing laws have enabled the prosecution of more than 30 UN-proscribed leaders and their associates, for terror financing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However,\u00a0it\u00a0is unclear that how many leaders are\u00a0serving\u00a0jail time, the convictions and prison terms. It has previously happened that Pakistani authorities arrest leaders on charges under international pressure, and subsequently release them.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, FATF has cleared that Pakistan must complete the prosecution of all proscribed leaders of groups including the\u00a0LeT,\u00a0JeM,\u00a0Al-Qaeda, and the Taliban.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, FATF has included six more items to the list.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What does it mean for India?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Pakistan\u2019s continuance on this list is a news of relief for India. It is because India is still awaiting true justice delivered to leaders of groups such as the\u00a0LeT\u00a0and\u00a0JeM\u00a0for attacks, including Mumbai 26\/11, Parliament (2001) Pathankot and Pulwama, and not just terror financing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the processes of FATF must be checked for overreach also. It is because India\u2019s Mutual Evaluation Report is also pending due to the pandemic.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

FATF has announced a new focus on \u201cextreme right-wing terrorism (ERW)\u201d. With this factor along with Pakistan\u2019s lobby will result in technical scrutiny of India\u2019s political aspects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
