Cryogenic liquids are liquefied gases that have a normal boiling point below -238 degrees Fahrenheit (-150 degrees Celsius).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits of Liquid Oxygen:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In commerce, liquid oxygen is <strong>classified as an\u00a0industrial gas\u00a0<\/strong>and is widely used for industrial and medical purposes.<\/li>\n<li>Liquid oxygen\u00a0is\u00a0<strong>used\u00a0as an oxidant for\u00a0liquid\u00a0fuels<\/strong> in the propellant systems of missiles and rockets.<\/li>\n<li>Oxygen\u00a0is <strong>widely applied in the metal industries<\/strong> in conjunction with acetylene and other fuel gases for metal cutting, welding, hardening, cleaning and melting.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-to-import-medical-oxygen-to-cater-demand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Liquid oxygen therapy<\/strong><\/a> is the medical process of providing additional oxygen to a patient who cannot get enough oxygen on their own. Conditions such as asthma, lung disease and pneumonia can be treated by this method.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hazards of Liquid Oxygen:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contact with liquid\u00a0oxygen\u00a0can cause <strong>severe skin and eye irritation<\/strong> and burns as well as <strong>frostbite<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Similarly, Inhalation of 80 per cent oxygen at one atmospheric pressure for more than 12 hours can <strong>cause irritation of the respiratory tract, nausea, dizziness, vision loss, coughing, chest pain<\/strong> etc.<\/li>\n<li>A characteristic <strong>neurological syndrome<\/strong> can be observed when pure oxygen is inhaled at pressures greater than two or three atmospheres.<\/li>\n<li>Characteristic <strong>epilepsy-like convulsions<\/strong>, which may be preceded by visual disturbances such as loss of peripheral vision, also occur.
