It evaluates the performance of State Power Distribution utilities on a range of parameters covering operational, financial, regulatory and reform parameters.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The rating exercise <\/strong>is carried out on an annual basis and presently covers 41 state distribution utilities spread across 22 states.<\/li>\n<li><strong>State Power\/ Energy Departments <\/strong>and private sector distribution utilities are however not covered under the integrated rating exercise<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nodal Agencies: <\/strong>ICRA and CARE are the designated credit rating agencies that carry out this exercise.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Co-ordinations agency: <\/strong>Power Finance Corporation(PFC) has been mandated to coordinate with the utilities, rating agencies &amp; Ministry of Power(MoP) during the rating exercise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Key Findings:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The five state distribution utilities<\/strong> of Gujarat and Haryana have topped the Integrated Ratings for State Power Distribution Utilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The losses of <\/strong>state-owned electricity distribution companies (discoms) have dropped by more than a third to \u20b938,000 crores in FY20 from \u20b961,360 crores in FY19.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The gap <\/strong>between the cost of electricity bought (ACS, or average cost of supply) and supplied (ARR, or average realizable revenue) has also come down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Scheme Mentioned in the Article:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/cabinet-approves-rs-3-03-lakh-crores-reform-based-power-distribution-scheme\/\"><strong>About Reforms-based and Results-linked, Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The scheme aims<\/strong> to improve the operational efficiencies and financial sustainability of all State DISCOMs\/ Power Department in this regard.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Scheme envisages <\/strong>providing financial assistance to DISCOMs for strengthening and modernizing the supply infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>States may also <\/strong>access funds under the scheme for strengthening their Distribution systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB What is the News?
