{"id":120151,"date":"2021-07-21T19:01:22","date_gmt":"2021-07-21T13:31:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=120151"},"modified":"2021-07-21T19:01:22","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T13:31:22","slug":"iit-ropar-develops-first-of-its-kind-oxygen-rationing-device-amlex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/iit-ropar-develops-first-of-its-kind-oxygen-rationing-device-amlex\/","title":{"rendered":"IIT Ropar develops first-of-its-kind Oxygen rationing device &#8211; AMLEX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1737098\"><strong>PIB<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Ropar has developed a first-of-its-kind Oxygen Rationing Device called <strong>AMLEX<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About AMLEX Device:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>AMLEX <\/strong>is an Oxygen Rationing Device that increases the life of medical oxygen cylinders threefold.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The device <\/strong>can be easily connected between the oxygen supply line and the mask worn by the patient.<\/li>\n<li><strong>It uses a sensor<\/strong> that senses and successfully supplies a required volume of oxygen to the patients (while inhaling) and trips when the patient is exhaling Carbon dioxide(CO2).<\/li>\n<li><strong>This process <\/strong>would help save oxygen, which gets unnecessarily wasted otherwise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>What was the need for an AMLEX device?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Generally during exhalation,<\/strong> the oxygen in the cylinder or pipe is pushed out along with the exhaled Co2 by the patient. This results in a large amount of oxygen wastage in the long run.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Also, <\/strong>a huge amount of oxygen escapes from the openings of the mask to the environment in the resting period (between inhalation and exhalation) due to the continuous flow of life-saving gas in the mask.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hence, <\/strong>as the demand for medical oxygen jumps manifold amid the second wave of coronavirus, the device would save oxygen which gets unnecessarily wasted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB \u00a0What is the News?
