It is being conducted along the East Coast of Africa.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About Exercise Cutlass Express:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Exercise Cutlass Express <\/strong>is an annual maritime exercise, conducted to promote national and regional maritime security in East Africa and the Western Indian Ocean.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The exercise is designed<\/strong> to assess and improve combined maritime law enforcement capacity, promote national and regional security and increase interoperability between the regional navies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Participation:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The 2021 edition of the exercise<\/strong> involves the participation of 12 Eastern African countries, US, UK, India, and various international organizations like <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/explained-the-debate-over-uns-new-rules-for-ships-in-the-arctic-region\/\">International Maritime Organisation(IMO), <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/world-drug-report-2020\/\">United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC),<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/interpol-to-hold-general-assembly-in-india-in-2022\/\">Interpol<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/in-eunavfor-indian-navy-european-union-naval-force-exercise-in-gulf-of-aden\/\">European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR) <\/a>and Critical Maritime Routes Indian Ocean (CRIMARIO).<\/li>\n<li><strong>India\u2019s <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/information-fusion-centre-ifc-for-the-indian-ocean-region-ior\/\"><strong>Information Fusion Centre \u2013 Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) <\/strong><\/a>is also participating in the exercise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>Indian Navy is participating in the exercise in a \u2018trainer role\u2019.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Significance of India\u2019s Participation:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>India\u2019s participation in this exercise<\/strong> will further strengthen India&#8217;s stated policy towards maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean region and vision <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-sends-tech-team-to-contain-mauritius-oil-spill\/\">SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region).<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About INS Talwar:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>INS Talwar <\/strong>is the lead ship of the Talwar-class frigates of the Indian Navy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The ship <\/strong>was built in Russia and commissioned into the Indian Navy in 2003.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About Critical Maritime Routes Indian Ocean(CRIMARIO):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The CRIMARIO Project <\/strong>was launched by the European Union(EU) in 2015.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The project aims to improve<\/strong> maritime security and safety in the wider Indian Ocean, with a particular focus on selected countries and archipelagos in East Africa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB \u00a0What is the News?
