{"id":122089,"date":"2021-07-29T19:32:27","date_gmt":"2021-07-29T14:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=122089"},"modified":"2021-07-30T12:52:58","modified_gmt":"2021-07-30T07:22:58","slug":"pm-to-roll-out-academic-credit-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pm-to-roll-out-academic-credit-bank\/","title":{"rendered":"PM to roll out academic credit bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Source:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/epaper.thehindu.com\/Home\/ShareArticle?OrgId=GC28QKKE8.1&amp;imageview=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hindu<\/a><\/p>\n<h5><strong>About the news:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>On the first anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP), the Centre plans to officially roll out some initiatives promised in the policy.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About the implementation of National Education Policy:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>The government&#8217;s planned initiatives include a <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/students-can-now-get-40-of-university-credits-from-e-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">credit transfer system that will allow multiple entry and exit options in higher education<\/a>, engineering programmes in regional languages.<\/li>\n<li>The much expected <strong>Academic Bank of Credit<\/strong> will be rolled out for students in over 290 top institutions from the current academic year 2021-22 onwards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About the planned initiatives under NEP:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Credit transfer system<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All institutions in the top 100 of the National Institutional Ranking Framework as well as those who have achieved an A grade under the National Assessment and Accreditation Council will be allowed to participate in the credit transfer system.<\/li>\n<li>This system will also allow multiple entry and exit options for students.<\/li>\n<li>Academic Bank of Credit will keep records of the academic credits of a student. It will <strong>not accept any credit course document directly from the students<\/strong> for any course they might be pursuing, but <strong>only from higher education institutes<\/strong>, who will have to make <strong>deposits in students\u2019 accounts<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>This will help in credit verification, credit accumulation, credit transfer and redemption of students, and promotion of the students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Engineering in regional languages: <\/strong>The government will also announce the launch of engineering degrees in regional languages in about 14 smaller institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The government will also announce the <strong>establishment of the National Digital Education Architecture and National Education Technology Forum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Multidisciplinarity is also being encouraged under the NEP.
