{"id":122355,"date":"2021-07-30T19:52:54","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T14:22:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=122355"},"modified":"2021-07-31T12:16:11","modified_gmt":"2021-07-31T06:46:11","slug":"indias-14-tiger-reserves-get-global-ca-ts-recognition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/indias-14-tiger-reserves-get-global-ca-ts-recognition\/","title":{"rendered":"India\u2019s 14 Tiger Reserves get Global CA\/TS recognition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1740353\"><strong>PIB<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Environment Minister has announced that 14 Tiger Reserves from India have received the accreditation of the Global Conservation Assured | Tiger Standards (CA|TS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tiger Reserves that received Global CA<\/strong>|<strong>TS recognition: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s 14 tiger reserves that have received the accreditation of the Global Conservation Assured|Tiger Standards(CA|TS) are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Manas, Kaziranga and Orang Tiger Reserve in Assam<\/li>\n<li>Satpura, Kanha, and Panna in Madhya Pradesh<\/li>\n<li>Pench in Maharashtra<\/li>\n<li>Valmiki Tiger Reserve in Bihar<\/li>\n<li>Dudhwa in Uttar Pradesh<\/li>\n<li>Sunderbans in West Bengal<\/li>\n<li>Parambikulam in Kerala,<\/li>\n<li>Bandipur Tiger Reserve of Karnataka<\/li>\n<li>Mudumalai and Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>The three most popular tiger reserves in terms of tourist visitors:\u00a0 Corbett (Uttarakhand), Ranthambore (Rajasthan), and Bandhavgarh (Madhya Pradesh) do not figure in the list of 14 Tiger Reserves to get CA\/TS recognition.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>What is CA|TS?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CA|TS <\/strong>was officially launched in 2013. It has been developed by tiger and protected area experts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>: It is a set of criteria that allows tiger sites to check if their management will lead to successful tiger conservation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>It also sets minimum standards<\/strong> for effective management of target species and encourages the assessment of these standards in relevant conservation areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Other News Mentioned in the Article:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Status of Leopards, Co-predators, and Megaherbivores-2018 Report:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Ministry of Environment <\/strong>has released this report. According to the report, in 2018, the number of leopards in tiger range states of India was 12,852.<\/li>\n<li><strong>This was <\/strong>a significant increase when compared to 2014 where the figure stood at 7,910 leopards.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>States<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: A maximum of these leopards are found in Madhya Pradesh (3,421) followed by Karnataka (1,783), and Maharashtra (1,690).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB What is the News?
