Indian Naval Ship(INS) Saryu, an indigenously built Offshore Patrol Vessel, is participating in the 36th Edition of the CORPAT.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol(CORPAT):<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>India and Indonesia <\/strong>have been carrying out Coordinated Patrols (CORPAT) exercise along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) twice a year since 2002.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim: <\/strong>To keep the vital part of the Indian Ocean Region safe and secure for commercial shipping, international trade, and the conduct of legitimate maritime activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Significance of the Exercise:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CORPATs help build understanding<\/strong> and interoperability between navies and facilitate the institution of measures to prevent and suppress Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, maritime terrorism, armed robbery, and piracy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Moreover<\/strong>, the exercise is also in line with the Government of India\u2019s vision of <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-sends-tech-team-to-contain-mauritius-oil-spill\/\">SAGAR (Security and growth for All in the Region).<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>As part of the vision,<\/strong> the Indian Navy has been proactively engaging with countries in the Indian Ocean Region to enhance maritime security in the region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB What is the News?
