The road was built under the \u2018<strong>Project Himank<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About Project Himank:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Project Himank <\/strong>is a project of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/bro-celebrates-59th-raising-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Border Roads Organisation(BRO)<\/a> in the Ladakh region of northernmost India that started in 1985.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Under the project, <\/strong>BRO is responsible for the construction and maintenance of roads and related infrastructure in Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control(LAC).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Moreover, <\/strong>the project also ensures access to sensitive military areas including the world&#8217;s highest battleground at the Siachen Glacier and Pangong Tso Lake whose waters span the de facto India-China border.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About Umling La Pass:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Umling La <\/strong>is located in the Eastern Ladakh region. The world&#8217;s highest motorable road is now situated at the height of 19,300 feet at Umling La Pass.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The road at the Umlingla Pass connects<\/strong> the important towns in the Chumar sector of Eastern Ladakh.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The road is close <\/strong>to the Line of Actual Control(LAC) and will allow quick movement of troops and equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The Hindu What is the News?
