{"id":123710,"date":"2021-08-05T19:21:21","date_gmt":"2021-08-05T13:51:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=123710"},"modified":"2021-08-11T15:31:54","modified_gmt":"2021-08-11T10:01:54","slug":"cabinet-approves-continuation-of-centrally-sponsored-scheme-for-fast-track-special-courts-for-further-2-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/cabinet-approves-continuation-of-centrally-sponsored-scheme-for-fast-track-special-courts-for-further-2-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Cabinet approves continuation of Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Fast Track Special Courts for further 2 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1742289\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h5><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of 1023 Fast Track Special Court (FTSCs) including 389 exclusive POCSO courts as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) till March 31, 2023.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Background:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Incidents <\/strong>of rape and gang rape of minor girls below the age of twelve and similar heinous crimes against women have always shaken the conscience of the entire nation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To prevent such crimes, <\/strong>stricter laws were introduced through \u201cthe Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2018\u201d. The act made provision for stringent punishment, including the death penalty, for perpetrators of rape.<\/li>\n<li>Moreover, to <strong>effectively implement the Criminal Law 2018 Act<\/strong>, the Government launched the <strong>Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Fast Track Special Courts<\/strong> across the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Fast Track Special Courts:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fast Track Special Courts <\/strong>are dedicated courts expected to ensure swift dispensation of justice. They have a better clearance rate as compared to the regular courts and hold speedy trials.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Besides providing quick justice <\/strong>to the hapless victims, it strengthens the deterrence framework for sexual offenders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>: The scheme by setting up Fast Track Courts aims to reduce the number of pending cases of the Rape and POCSO Act.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coverage: <\/strong>Currently the scheme covers 28 States. It is proposed to be expanded to cover all 31 states which are eligible to join the Scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB What is the News?
