Mating takes place usually between June and October during the rainy season.<\/li>\n<li>The female <strong>creates foam nests on leaves<\/strong>, into which the eggs are laid and the male fertilises them.<\/li>\n<li>The outer layer of foam protects the eggs from bacteria, predators and weather changes.<\/li>\n<li>When the eggs hatch, the nest disintegrates and tadpoles drop into the water body below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conservation Status:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>IUCN Status:<\/strong> Critically Endangered<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Threats:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This species is known from at least two protected areas, Indra Gandhi National Park and Parambikulam Tiger Reserve.<\/li>\n<li>Outside the protected areas, it is threatened habitat loss caused by the conversion of forests to other uses as well as by timber extraction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The Hindu \u00a0What is the News?
