Each has different types of challenges.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Barely 15% of the schools can be called compliant with the RTE<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Section 29 of the RTE<\/strong> explains what kind of education every child has a right to. There is<strong> no government school that is complying<\/strong> with that, including elite schools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The secondary and higher secondary level government schools do <strong>not have adequate capacities<\/strong>, so the <strong>net enrolment falls, especially girls, sharply<\/strong> beyond the primary level.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Problems associated with government school teachers:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Teachers\u2019 <strong>professional development is a very weak<\/strong> area in government schools.<\/li>\n<li>Almost <strong>half the regular teacher vacancies<\/strong> are <strong>filled by guest or ad hoc teachers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Nearly, <strong>95% of teacher education is in private<\/strong> hands and most of it is <strong>substandard<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"background-color: #f2e9f1;\">\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><strong>Read more<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/one-year-of-national-education-policy-explained-pointwise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">One year of National Education Policy \u2013 Explained, pointwise<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h5><strong>Suggestions to improve government Schools:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>The government (State and Union) has to<strong> improve pedagogy, teacher development, the level of community participation<\/strong>, the parent committees, etc.<\/li>\n<li>India should also look at the basic safety, well-being and hygiene factors in government schools.
