{"id":124597,"date":"2021-08-09T17:58:29","date_gmt":"2021-08-09T12:28:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=124597"},"modified":"2021-08-10T10:13:18","modified_gmt":"2021-08-10T04:43:18","slug":"itbp-inducts-first-women-officers-on-combat-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/itbp-inducts-first-women-officers-on-combat-service\/","title":{"rendered":"ITBP inducts first women officers on combat service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/epaper.thehindu.com\/Home\/MShareArticle?OrgId=G6K8RSDIE.1&amp;imageview=0\"><b>The Hindu<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force which guards the Line of Actual Control (LAC) along the India-China border has commissioned its first two women officers in combat after they completed their training here.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Women in ITBP:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>The ITBP started recruiting women combat officers <\/b>i<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n its cadre from 2016 through an all-India examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Before this<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it had combat women only in the constabulary ranks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>These women officers recruited<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will now be posted across ITBP formations in the country, including along the LAC with China and the anti-Naxal operations theatre in Chhattisgarh.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>About ITBP:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a Central Armed Police Force(CAPF) functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Origin: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ITBP was<\/span><b> initially raised in 1962 under the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Act, 1949<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the backdrop of <\/span><b>1962 during the India-China War<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, in 1992, parliament enacted the <\/span><b>ITBPF Act<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the rules were framed in 1994.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Mandate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: ITBP is India&#8217;s primary border patrol organization for its border with China\u2019s Tibet Autonomous Region. It <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is also deployed for <\/span><b>Anti Naxal Operations <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and other <\/span><b>internal security duties<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Moreover<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ITBP personnel have also been deployed abroad in UN peacekeeping missions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: The Hindu What is the News?
