Moreover, the PM has also announced a new initiative named \u2018<strong>National Edible Oil Mission-Oil Palm(NMEO-OP)\u2019<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pradhan-mantri-kisan-samman-nidhipm-kisan-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Click here to read about PM-KISAN scheme<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><b>About <\/b><b>National Edible Oil Mission-Oil Palm(NMEO-OP)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Aim<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The scheme aims <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to incentivise the production of palm oil to reduce dependence on imports and help farmers cash in on the huge market.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Under the scheme,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> oil palm farmers will be provided financial assistance and will get remuneration under a price and viability formula.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>The special emphasis of the scheme <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be in India&#8217;s north-eastern states and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands due to the conducive weather conditions in the regions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Note<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The government of India has planned to raise the domestic production of palm oil by three times to 11 lakh MT by 2025-26. This will involve raising the area under oil palm cultivation to 10 lakh hectares by 2025-26 and 16.7 lakh hectares by 2029-30.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What was the need of the Mission on Palm Oil?<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><b>India <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the world\u2019s biggest buyer of edible oils.
