{"id":125247,"date":"2021-08-11T17:56:25","date_gmt":"2021-08-11T12:26:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=125247"},"modified":"2021-08-12T11:53:17","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T06:23:17","slug":"pm-launches-ujjwala-2-0-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pm-launches-ujjwala-2-0-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM launches Ujjwala 2.0 Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1744400\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>PIB<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Prime Minister of India has launched Ujjwala 2.0 (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana &#8211; PMUY) by handing over LPG connections at Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>About <\/b><b>Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY):<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in 2018.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Aim: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To replace the unclean cooking fuels mostly used in rural India with the clean and more efficient LPG(Liquefied Petroleum Gas).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Under the scheme, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an adult woman member of a below poverty line family identified through the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) was given a deposit-free LPG connection with the financial assistance of Rs 1,600 per connection by the Centre.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Target<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Initially the target was the installation of 5 crores LPG connections by 2019. But the target was revised to 8 crores which was achieved in August 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>About<\/b> <b>Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY) 2.0:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><b>In the Union Budget for 2021-22, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Government has announced the target of an additional one crore LPG connection. These additional connections will be provided under Ujjwala 2.0.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Hence, Ujjwala 2.0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aims to provide deposit-free LPG connections to those low-income families who could not be covered under the earlier phase of PMUY.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Along with a deposit-free LPG connection, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ujjwala 2.0 will also provide the first refill and hotplate free of cost to the beneficiaries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Moreover, the migrants <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">would only be required to submit a self-declaration of their residential address to get the gas connection.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB What is the News?
