{"id":125566,"date":"2021-08-12T18:17:01","date_gmt":"2021-08-12T12:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=125566"},"modified":"2021-08-13T09:33:55","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T04:03:55","slug":"cec-inaugurates-11th-annual-meeting-of-the-forum-of-the-election-management-bodies-of-south-asiafembosa-for-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/cec-inaugurates-11th-annual-meeting-of-the-forum-of-the-election-management-bodies-of-south-asiafembosa-for-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"CEC inaugurates 11th Annual Meeting of the Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia(FEMBoSA) for 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1744893\"><b>PIB<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chief Election Commissioner of India has inaugurated the 11<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Annual meeting of t<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he Forum of the Election Management Bodies of SouthAsia (FEMBoSA) for the year 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>About <\/b><b>11<\/b><b>th<\/b><b> Annual meeting of <\/b><b>FEMBoSA:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><b>The Annual meeting <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hosted by the Election Commission of Bhutan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Participating Countries: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka (All except Pakistan).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Theme: \u201c<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use of Technology in Elections<\/span><b>\u201d.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Thimphu Resolution:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It was unanimously adopted by the FEMBoSA members at this meeting to <strong>extend the tenure of the chairmanship to two years<\/strong> during the current pandemic situation.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>About FEMBoSA:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><b>FEMBoSA <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was established at the 3rd Conference of Heads of Election Management Bodies(EMBs) of SAARC Countries in 2012.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Aim: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To increase mutual cooperation in respect to the common interests of the SAARC\u2019s EMBs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Member Countries: <\/b>The Forum has eight Member Election Management Bodies from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The Election Commission of India is the current Chair of the Forum.<\/li>\n<li><b>Meeting:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The annual FEMBoSA meeting is held by rotation among the members.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>Objectives of the forum:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Promote contact among the EMBs of the SAARC countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Share experiences with a view to learning from each other.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cooperate with one another in enhancing the capabilities of the EMBs towards conducting free and fair elections.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB What is the News?
