Some have labelled it a mistake, or an oversight by the patent office because the inventor in this case is not a human being.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"intro\">Under present patent law, only natural persons may be named as an inventor in a patent application.<\/li>\n<li>Also, ideas, for the purposes of patents, require the element of \u201cmental conception\u201d \u2014 something of which only a human mind is capable.<\/li>\n<li>Further, inventorship comes with rights, which AI is not legally capable of possessing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About DABUS<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>DABUS <\/strong>stands for <strong>device for the autonomous bootstrapping of unified sentience, <\/strong>created by <strong>Stephen Thaler<\/strong>, a pioneer in the field of AI and programming.<\/p>\n<p>The system mimics human brainstorming and creates new inventions. DABUS is a particular type of AI, often referred to as <strong>\u201ccreativity machines\u201d<\/strong> because they are capable of independent and complex functioning.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>What are Creativity Machines?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Machines which can process and critically analyse data, and learn from it, are referred to as creativity machines.
