It also presents a deeper insight into how well India is doing to support the well-being of its ageing population.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>Pillars and Sub Pillars of the index:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Four Pillars: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financial Well-being, Social Well-being, Health System and Income Security<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Eight Sub-Pillars: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Economic Empowerment, Educational Attainment &amp; Employment, Social Status, Physical Security, Basic Health, Psychological Well being, Social Security and Enabling Environment.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>Key Findings of the Index:<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Elderly Population:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is currently enjoying the demographic dividend. But the age group above the age of 65 will become the fastest-growing age group by 2050.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>The share of elders, as a percentage of the total population<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the country, is expected to <\/span><b>increase from around 7.5% in 2001 to almost 12.5% by 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and surpass 19.5% by 2050.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Further<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, there will be a significantly higher proportion of women than men in the higher age cohort due to higher life expectancy.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>State-wise assessment:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Rajasthan <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the top scorer in the aged states&#8217; category, defined as states with an elderly population of more than 5 million.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Himachal Pradesh leads <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the Relatively-Aged States section (below 5 million population).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Mizoram l<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eads in the North Eastern States category and Chandigarh among all UTs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><b>Pillar-wise Performance:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Health System pillar observes the highest national average<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 66.97 at an all-India level, followed by <\/span><b>62.34 in Social Well-being.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Financial Well-being<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> observes a score of <\/span><b>44.7.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is at a lower stage due to the low performance of 21 States across the Education Attainment &amp; Employment pillar, which showcases scope for improvement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">States have performed particularly <\/span><b>worse in the Income Security pillar because over half of the States have a score below the national average<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Income Security, which is the lowest across all pillars.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB What is the News?
