{"id":125880,"date":"2021-08-13T17:52:25","date_gmt":"2021-08-13T12:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=125880"},"modified":"2021-08-13T17:52:25","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T12:22:25","slug":"niti-aayog-releases-handbook-to-guide-ev-charging-infrastructure-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/niti-aayog-releases-handbook-to-guide-ev-charging-infrastructure-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"NITI Aayog Releases Handbook to Guide EV Charging Infrastructure in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1745127\"><b>PIB<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NITI Aayog has released a report titled \u201cThe Handbook for Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Implementation\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>Prepared by: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NITI Aayog, Ministry of Power (MoP), Department of Science and Technology (DST), <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/urja-dakshata-information-tooludit\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), and World Resources Institute (WRI)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Objective:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To guide state governments and local bodies to frame policies and norms towards setting up charging networks for electric vehicles (EV).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To enhance charging infrastructure and facilitate a rapid transition to electric mobility in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><b>Key Findings of the report:<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Electric Vehicles Charging Station:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Electric Vehicles(EV) Charging<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a piece of equipment that supplies electrical power for charging plug-in electric vehicles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>The <\/b><b>Central Nodal Agency <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for the establishment of Charging Infrastructure for EVs in India is the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><b>The target for Electric Vehicles(EV) Charging<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Ministry of Power(MoP)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has set a national target of having at least one charging station for every 3*3 grid, or for every 25 km on a highway.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><b>Approach towards Electric Vehicles Charging:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Discoms to play a pivotal role: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EV charging is a new type of power demand for discoms. Hence,discoms will play a pivotal role in providing a seamless power supply for charging facilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Planning of EV charging networks requires a distinct approach: <\/b>Electric<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> vehicles can be charged at any location, provided charging points are available. But this requires a distinct approach.
