What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance has released the Annual Public Enterprises Survey 2019-20.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brief history of the Public Enterprises (PE) survey:<\/b><\/h5>\n
    \n
  1. The Estimates Committee<\/b> in its 73<\/span>rd <\/span>Report (2<\/span>nd <\/span>Lok Sabha) in Financial Year 1959-60 recommended that there should be a detailed report highlighting the performance of CPSEs.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The Bureau of Public Enterprises<\/b> under the Ministry of Finance (now Department of Public Enterprises in the Ministry of Finance) drafted the first Public Enterprises Survey in the Financial Year 1960-61.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    Public Enterprises Survey 2019-20\u00a0<\/b><\/h5>\n
      \n
    1. The Public Enterprises Survey 2019-20 <\/b>is the 60<\/span>th <\/span>publication in this series. It provides essential statistical data for all CPSEs from various perspectives.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Sectors Covered: <\/b>\u00a0<\/span>The Survey divides CPSEs into<\/span> five sectors<\/b> namely:<\/span>\n
        \n
      1. Agriculture<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Mining & Exploration<\/span><\/li>\n
      3. Manufacturing, Processing & Generation<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. Services<\/span><\/li>\n
      5. Enterprises Under Construction.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        Findings of the Survey:<\/b><\/h5>\n
          \n
        1. Out of the <\/b>total 366 CPSEs<\/span> as of March-end 2020, 256 were operational, 96 were under construction, and 14 were under liquidation.<\/span><\/li>\n
        2. The net profit <\/b>of central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) has decreased by\u00a0 34.6% year-on-year (YoY) in the financial year 2019-20 (FY20). <\/span>This was mainly attributed to a sharp reduction in the profits of petroleum refiners.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
