Conservation efforts in these areas have led to increase in their population in recent years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure style=\"width: 567px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cdn.downtoearth.org.in\/library\/large\/2021-08-13\/0.75250300_1628850997_67.jpg?resize=567%2C317&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Adjutant stork\" width=\"567\" height=\"317\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Greater Adjutant Stork (Source: DTE)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h5><strong>Significance of the move<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>GPS trackers will help in studying their movement patterns and places where they go to.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About Greater adjutant storks<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>The greater adjutant is one of the most threatened stork species of the world and is widely considered to be a rare bird<\/li>\n<li>The global population of the Greater Adjutant Stork is estimated to be roughly not more than 1,500 now.<\/li>\n<li>Conservation status:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>IUCN Red list<\/strong>: EN (Endangered)<\/li>\n<li><strong> Indian Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972:<\/strong> Schedule IV<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>There are only three known breeding grounds \u2013 one in Cambodia, two in India, in Assam and in Kadwa Diara of Bihar.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cultural significance: <\/strong>The Garuda is the considered the mount of Vishnu, one of Hinduism\u2019s prime deities. Some worship the bird and call it \u201cGaruda Maharaj\u201d (Lord Garuda) or \u201cGuru Garuda\u201d (Great Teacher Garuda).
