What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

India\u2019s External Affairs Minister has announced the launch of the UNITE AWARE platform.<\/span><\/p>\n

About UNITE AWARE Platform:<\/b><\/h5>\n
    \n
  1. Launched by: <\/b>India in partnership with the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Operational Support.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Purpose:<\/b> UNITE Aware is a technology platform that utilises modern surveillance technology for real-time threat assessments<\/strong> to UN peacekeepers and helps them enhance their security.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Where will it be deployed?<\/b> The UNITE Aware platform will initially be rolled out in four UN Peacekeeping Missions: MINUSMA (Mali), UNMISS (South Sudan), UNFICYP (Cyprus) and AMISOM (Somalia).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    About Partnership for Technology in Peacekeeping initiative:<\/b><\/h5>\n

    1. The initiative was established in <\/b>2014 by the United Nations (UN) Department of Operational Support (DOS).<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Objective:<\/b> To bring greater involvement to peacekeeping through innovative approaches and technologies that have the potential to empower UN global operations<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
