The scheme was launched in 1967 and was renamed as Jan Shikshan Sansthan in 2000<\/span><b>.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Nodal Ministry: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme was transferred from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Skill Development &amp; Entrepreneurship in 2018.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Mandate: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To provide vocational skills in non-formal mode to non-literate, neo-literates, persons with a rudimentary level of education up to 8th and school drop-outs up to 12th standard in the age group of 15-45 years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Target Group:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The priority groups are women, SC, ST, minorities and other backward sections of the society.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Implementation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The scheme is implemented through NGOs with 100% grants from the Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>At present, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">233 JSSs in 25 States and 3 Union Territories are functional.
