{"id":128262,"date":"2021-08-24T17:27:28","date_gmt":"2021-08-24T11:57:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=128262"},"modified":"2021-08-26T11:51:20","modified_gmt":"2021-08-26T06:21:20","slug":"india-could-gain-11-trn-in-50-years-with-climate-action-deloitte-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-could-gain-11-trn-in-50-years-with-climate-action-deloitte-report\/","title":{"rendered":"India could gain $11 trn in 50 years with climate action: Deloitte report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/article\/economy-policy\/india-could-gain-11-trn-in-50-years-with-climate-action-deloitte-report-121082300524_1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Business Standard<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deloitte Economics Institute has released a report, titled \u201cIndia\u2019s turning point: How climate action can drive our economic future\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Key Findings of the Report:<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Impact of Climate Change on Economy:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>India can gain $11 trillion in economic value<\/strong> over the next 50 years by limiting rising global temperatures and realising its potential to \u2018export decarbonisation\u2019 to the world.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Decarbonisation <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions through the use of low carbon power sources, achieving a lower output of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>However, if\u00a0 India doesn\u2019t act now<\/strong> to mitigate the effects of climate change, it could lose $35 trillion in economic potential which could be 12.7% of its gross domestic product (GDP) by 2070.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><b>Top Five Impacted Industries due to Climate Change:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Over the next 50 years, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the top five most impacted industries in terms of economic activity are expected to incur a significant share of climate-related loss.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These industries<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be <strong>services<\/strong> (government and private), <strong>manufacturing, retail and tourism, construction, and transport<\/strong> which currently account for <strong>more than 80% of India\u2019s GDP<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>The report estimates that by 2070,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> these five industries alone would experience an annual loss in the value-added to GDP of more than $1.5 trillion per year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: Business Standard What is the News?
