While addressing the keynote address, the Union minister highlighted major achievements of India in the field of energy efficiency and transition.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>India&#8217;s Achievements<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>India has achieved an <strong>emission reduction of 28% over 2005 levels,<\/strong> against the target of 35% by 2030 committed in its NDC (Nationally determined contributions)<\/li>\n<li>India is among one of the few countries globally which have <strong>kept to its Paris Climate Change (COP21) commitments<\/strong> along with an exponential increase in renewable energy capacity.<\/li>\n<li>It is anticipated that <strong>by 2050, 80-85% of India\u2019s overall power capacity <\/strong>will come from renewables.<\/li>\n<li>The Indian Power Sector achieved the milestone of <strong>100 GW of installed Renewable Energy Capacity<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>38.5%<\/strong> of India\u2019s installed power generation capacity is based on clean renewable energy sources.<\/li>\n<li>India stands at <strong>4<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong> position in the world in terms of installed RE capacity, <strong>5<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong> in Solar, and <strong>4<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0in Wind energy capacity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dedicated Green Energy Corridors<\/strong> initiated by the MNRE making it easier for renewable energy developers to avail grid connectivity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Terms to know<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/nternational-solar-alliance-isa\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">International Solar Alliance<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: PIB What is the news?
