{"id":12884,"date":"2020-01-11T16:20:36","date_gmt":"2020-01-11T10:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=12884"},"modified":"2020-01-11T16:20:36","modified_gmt":"2020-01-11T10:50:36","slug":"purvodayaaccelerated-development-of-eastern-india-through-an-integrated-steel-hub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/purvodayaaccelerated-development-of-eastern-india-through-an-integrated-steel-hub\/","title":{"rendered":"Purvodaya:Accelerated development of Eastern India through an Integrated Steel Hub"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>Ministry of steel in partnership with CII and JPC is organising the launch of Purvodaya-Accelerated Development of Eastern Region through an Integrated Steel hub.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Eastern region of India though extremely rich in resources lags behind other states in terms of development.<\/li><li>Hence,the Integrated Steel Hub was launched in Eastern states of India as it collectively hold ~80% of the country\u2019s iron ore, ~100% of coking coal and significant portion of chromite, bauxite and dolomite reserves.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Integrated Steel Hub:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The initiative aims at developing the eastern states through an integrated steel hub.<\/li><li>The proposed Integrated Steel Hub would encompass the states of Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Northern Andhra Pradesh.<\/li><li>The hub would enable swift capacity addition and improve overall competitiveness of steel producers both in terms of cost and quality.&nbsp;<\/li><li>In addition to increased steel capacity, this hub would also help enhance best-in-class value addition capabilities.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Components:<\/strong>The Integrated Steel Hub would focus on 3 key elements namely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Capacity addition through easing the setup of greenfield steel plants<\/li><li>Development of steel clusters near integrated steel plants as well as demand centres<\/li><li>Transformation of logistics and utilities infrastructure which would change the socio-economic landscape in the East.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These elements would be supported through additional enablers such as ensuring the availability of raw materials, presence of supporting industries such as capital goods and well-established avenues for skill development.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits of the Hub:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It would lead to socio-economic development in the Eastern region.<\/li><li>It helps in significant employment opportunities across the entire value chain creating over 2.5 Million jobs in the region.<\/li><li>It would also spur development in other manufacturing industries across sectors.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:Ministry of steel in partnership with CII and JPC is organising the launch of Purvodaya-Accelerated Development of Eastern Region through an Integrated Steel hub.
