What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has started pre-bid meetings with various stakeholders with respect to the public-private partnership model implementation for BharatNet.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is BharatNet Project?<\/b><\/h5>\n
    \n
  1. BharatNet <\/b>is a project envisioned by the Government of India to digitally connect all the Gram Panchayats (GPs) and Villages.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The project is <\/b>being implemented <\/b>by the Department of Telecommunication under the Ministry of Communications<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    BharatNet project through Public-Private Partnership model:<\/b><\/h5>\n
      \n
    1. Under this model<\/b>, private partners will be <\/span>selected through a competitive international bidding process.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. The selected private partner <\/b>will be responsible for the creation, upgradation, operation, maintenance and utilisation of BharatNet.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. The project will initially <\/b>be implemented in 16 states, with an aim to connect 3.61 lakh villages with the internet.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Moreover, the project <\/b>will be divided into nine packages, each corresponding to one or more telecom circles. No private investor will be awarded more than four packages to avoid monopoly.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
