The Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change<\/strong> has urged Indian companies to join the <\/span>Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT)<\/strong> Initiative<\/span>.<\/b><\/p>\n Launched by: <\/b>Government of Sweden and India<\/strong> at the UN Climate Action Summit<\/strong> in 2019 with the support from World Economic Forum<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n Aim: <\/b>The group gathers countries and companies that are committed to achieve the targets of the Paris Agreement<\/strong> by reaching net-zero carbon emissions from industry by 2050.<\/span><\/p>\n The group \u200b\u200bprovides an arena for public-private collaboration<\/strong> for sectoral and cross-sectoral learning when it comes to innovation opportunities and new technologies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It also enables collaboration between political and industry decision-makers by convening high-level dialogues to catalyze leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n Moreover, it also<\/span> supports governments and industries to co-produce stakeholder-led pathways to low carbon industry transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n Members:<\/b> Currently, the Group has a membership of 16 countries and 19 companies, including Dalmia Cement, Mahindra Group and SpiceJet from India.<\/span><\/p>\n Secretariat: <\/b>The LeadIT Secretariat is responsible for managing the work<\/strong> of the Leadership Group and is hosted by Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI)<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n Source: <\/b>This post is based on the article<\/span> \u201c<\/b>Centre urges <\/b>Indian companies to join \u201cLeadership Group for Industry Transition\u201d”<\/b> published in<\/span> PIB <\/b>on 14th September 2021.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
