Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade<\/strong> (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/strong> has implemented several reforms to ensure Industrial Safety in critical premises such as petroleum installations, explosive manufacturing facilities, cylinder filling and storage premises among others.<\/span><\/p>\n \u200b\u200bPetroleum and Explosives Safety Organization(PESO)\u00a0<\/b>is the nodal agency for regulating the safety of hazardous substances such as explosives, compressed gases and petroleum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n PESO was formerly known as<\/strong> the Department of Explosives<\/strong>. It is an <\/span>autonomous body<\/strong> under DPIIT.<\/span><\/p>\n PESO\u2019s major <\/b>work <\/b>is to administer the responsibilities delegated under the Explosives Act 1884<\/strong> and Petroleum Act 1934<\/strong> and the Rules made thereunder related to manufacturing, import, export, transport, possession, sale and use of Explosives, Petroleum products and compressed gases.<\/span><\/p>\n Headquarters: <\/b>PESO has its Headquarters at Nagpur<\/strong> in Maharashtra<\/strong>.
