{"id":136295,"date":"2021-09-23T19:36:22","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T14:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=136295"},"modified":"2021-09-25T15:52:30","modified_gmt":"2021-09-25T10:22:30","slug":"covid-deaths-centre-okays-ex-gratia-state-funds-to-cover-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/covid-deaths-centre-okays-ex-gratia-state-funds-to-cover-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid deaths: Centre okays ex-gratia, state funds to cover it"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The government of India has informed the Supreme Court that <strong>National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)<\/strong> has recommended an ex-gratia amount of Rs 50,000 for loss of life due to Covid-19.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Background<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>Supreme Court of India<\/strong> had <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to recommend guidelines for giving ex gratia assistance to the families of persons who died of COVID-19 as mandated under Section 12 (iii) of the <strong>Disaster Management Act of 2005<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Section 12<\/strong> makes it mandatory for the NDMA to recommend guidelines for the \u201c<strong>minimum standards of relief<\/strong>\u201d to be provided to disaster victims.
