{"id":13657,"date":"2020-02-11T15:47:03","date_gmt":"2020-02-11T10:17:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=13657"},"modified":"2021-04-24T12:23:40","modified_gmt":"2021-04-24T06:53:40","slug":"national-deworming-dayndd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/national-deworming-dayndd\/","title":{"rendered":"National Deworming Day(NDD)"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is conducting the tenth round of National Deworming Day(NDD).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>About National Deworming Day(NDD):\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>The National Deworming Day(NDD) is observed bi-annually since 2015 on 10th February and 10th August in all states and UTs followed by mop-up activities.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong>To reduce the prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminths(STH) commonly called the parasitic intestinal worms among all children and adolescents.<\/li>\r\n<li>The day was started in 2015 by the Ministry Of Health And Family Welfare.<\/li>\r\n<li>It is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Human Resource Development.<\/li>\r\n<li>During the day, the children and adolescents aged 1-19 years are administered Albendazole across government, government-aided schools, anganwadis and other educational institutions.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Additional information:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>About Soil-transmitted helminth(STH):<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Soil-transmitted helminth(STH) infections are among the most common infections worldwide and affect the poorest and most deprived communities.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>They are transmitted by eggs present in human faeces which in turn contaminate soil in areas where sanitation is poor.<\/li>\r\n<li>The main species that infect people are the roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides), the whipworm (Trichuris trichiura) and the hookworms (Necator americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale).<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is conducting the tenth round of National Deworming Day(NDD).
