Government e-Marketplace<\/strong> (GeM) was announced as the winner in the “Best Use of Digital Technology<\/strong>” category at the CIPS Excellence in Procurement Awards<\/strong> 2021 (CIPS Awards).<\/span><\/p>\n CIPS Excellence in Procurement Awards 2021 is given by the London <\/span>based Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply<\/strong> (CIPS), a non-profit organization.<\/span><\/p>\n The awards are given to celebrate the best work and teams in the procurement profession.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Government e-Marketplace is a 100% Government owned Section 8 Company set up under the aegis of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n Purpose:<\/b> It is an online marketplace for the procurement of goods and services by Central and State Government organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n The procurement of goods and services by Ministries and the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) is mandatory for goods and services available on GeM.<\/span><\/p>\n The Government of India has made it mandatory for sellers to enter the Country of Origin while registering all new products on GeM.<\/span><\/p>\n Moreover, GeM has also enabled a provision for indication of the percentage of local content in products.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Hence, with this new feature, now, the Country of Origin as well as the local content percentage are visible in the marketplace for all items.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Source: <\/b>This post is based on the article<\/span> \u201d<\/b>Government e Marketplace bags prestigious CIPS Award<\/b>\u201d<\/b> published in PIB <\/b>on 24th September 2021.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
