There is an aspect to the distinction between AUKUS and Quad that has not received adequate attention. AUKUS centres around the concept of an Anglosphere, but the Quad did not.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><strong>Must read<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/aukus-security-alliance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AUKUS Security Alliance \u2013 Explained, pointwise<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h5>How the Anglosphere creates a divide around the world?<\/h5>\n<p>While the US, UK and Australia have been able to maintain a relationship of trust that allows them to create an AUKUS, <strong>India and Japan<\/strong> still do not enjoy the required level of either trust or cultural affinity with the West that would give them access to defence-related nuclear technology.<\/p>\n<p>English-speaking <strong>Africa<\/strong> is even more conflicted <strong>on relations with the US <\/strong>(English-speaking nations)<strong> and China<\/strong> than nations of Indo-China.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Singapore and Hong Kong<\/strong> were firmly within the Anglosphere earlier. But now they are busy redefining themselves (shifting away from Anglosphere) to deal with China.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 99.8647%;\"><strong>Must read<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/quad-leaders-summit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quad Leaders\u2019 Summit \u2013 Explained, pointwise<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h5>Does India, a member of the Anglosphere?<\/h5>\n<p>English is the shared language in India, and there is a vast and growing diaspora of Indians in the English-speaking world. <span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">But, a shared English inheritance is not enough for India\u2019s entrance into the strategic Anglosphere. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">The notion that India is a natural member of the Anglosphere was buried long back when <\/span><strong style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">Britain shied away from the idea of an India-led Commonwealth<\/strong><span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">. Britain has continued to retain its leadership and continuing its \u2018<\/span><strong style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">divide and rule<\/strong><span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">\u2019 policy within the group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apart from that, India also shifted from the <strong>English-speaking 20th-century to the vernacular speaking 21st-century<\/strong>. India\u2019s <strong>re-imagination of itself as a civilisational nation <\/strong>limits the relevance of the notion of an Anglosphere.<\/p>\n<h5>How Vernacular India is helping India to build its international relations?<\/h5>\n<p>Both <strong>China and Russia<\/strong> have for a very long time established <strong>stronger links with vernacular India<\/strong> than with English-speaking India.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Japan\u2019s<\/strong> former Prime Minister not only <strong>visited Varanasi<\/strong> and watched Ganga aarti on the Dashashwamedh Ghat, but also <strong>invested in a cultural centre<\/strong> in the holy city.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong> French and Germans<\/strong> have been <strong>late to understand<\/strong> the significance of this non-English outreach but are learning fast.<\/p>\n<h5>How India is moving ahead?<\/h5>\n<p>At present,<strong> India<\/strong> is in no mood to trust the Anglosphere any more than other non-English nations. India is giving equal importance to English and non-English nations on equal terms.<\/p>\n<p>Further, India is also <strong>rediscovering India\u2019s ancient links<\/strong> with the world.
