What is the news?<\/h5>\n

NITI Aayog<\/strong>, in a joint effort with International Food Policy Research Institute<\/strong> (IFPRI), the Indian Institute of Population Sciences<\/strong> (IIPS), UNICEF<\/strong> and the Institute of Economic Growth<\/strong> (IEG) has launched \u2018The State Nutrition Profiles’<\/strong> for 19 States and Union Territories.<\/p>\n

About the \u2018State Nutrition Profiles\u2019 (SNPs)<\/h5>\n

The SNPs give insights on nutrition outcomes<\/strong>, immediate and underlying determinants and interventions based on National Family Health Survey (NFHS) rounds 3, 4 and 5.<\/p>\n

The SNPs include a comprehensive compilation of crucial data<\/strong> that can positively affect policy decisions and facilitate research in the area.<\/p>\n

They contain the trend analysis of key indicators such as wasting, stunting, anemia, underweight and overweight and NCDs (Diabetes and High blood pressure) showcase the variability of performance across districts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The reports highlight the best and worst-performing districts, the highest-burden districts and top coverage districts of the country.<\/p>\n

How the SNPs are framed?<\/h5>\n

The SNPs are based on the headcount-based analyses<\/strong> and use of data from NFHS-5<\/strong> to provide evidence that helps identify priority districts and the number of districts in the state<\/strong> with public health concerns as per WHO guidelines.<\/p>\n

The SNPs include a colour-coded dashboard<\/strong> to compare the coverage of nutrition interventions<\/strong> across all the districts in the state.<\/p>\n

Each SNP has incorporated key takeaways<\/strong> for children, women and men and identifies areas where the state has the potential to improve further<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
