The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)<\/strong> has introduced a Web-based system on the eGCA platform for voluntary reporting of incidents that pose a potential threat to flight safety.<\/p>\n So far, the Voluntary Safety Reporting System is available on e-mail and postal mode. Now, the DGCA introduced a web-based system on \u201ceGCA\u201d portal.<\/p>\n Anyone witnessing or involved or having knowledge of an occurrence, hazard or situation which he or she believes possesses a potential threat to flight safety could report the same to the contact details made available on the official website of the DGCA.<\/p>\n As part of the state safety programme, the DGCA had a voluntary safety reporting system. This is to facilitate the collection of information on actual or potential safety deficiencies that may not be captured by the mandatory safety reporting system.<\/p>\n The reporting\u00a0system would be\u00a0<\/span>non-punitive<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and would\u00a0<\/span>protect the identity<\/span><\/b> of the source. While anonymous reports would be accepted, the person may disclose<\/strong> his\/her identity to enable contact<\/strong> if any part of the report needed clarification.<\/span><\/p>\n However, the Voluntary Safety Reporting System was<\/span>\u00a0not a substitute<\/span><\/b>\u00a0for Mandatory Safety Reporting System that would continue to function.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It is an\u00a0<\/span>attached office<\/span><\/b>\u00a0of the\u00a0<\/span>Ministry of Civil\u00a0Aviation<\/span><\/b>.
