The program is structured around the basics &amp; benefits of Indian sandalwood, seed handling, nursery techniques &amp; managing the health of the plant.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is Sandalwood?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Sandalwood<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a class of woods from trees in the genus <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Santalum<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The woods are heavy, yellow, and fine-grained, and, unlike many other aromatic woods. Further, they can retain their fragrance for decades.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Benefits:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Sandalwood has several antibacterial<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, antibiotic &amp; anti-cancer benefits amongst others. Hence, it finds its uses in pharmaceuticals, personal care &amp; furniture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Sandalwood and India:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Sandalwood has been long associated with the Indian heritage &amp; culture, as the country contributed 85% of the world\u2019 sandalwood trade erstwhile. However, of late this has been declining at a fast rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Largest Growers of Sandalwood:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Globally, India &amp; Australia are the largest growers of sandalwood. On the other hand, the biggest markets lie in the United States, China, Japan &amp; the Indian domestic market.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Future Prospects of Sandalwood Market<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2020, the world sandalwood market stood at USD 300 million.
