What one can expect from the EU’s Indo-Pacific strategy?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

EU Strategy can work along with the Quad<\/span> in Indo-Pacific. Further, it can <\/span>step up security cooperation with a number of Asian partners, including India.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from that, it can have a much greater impact on the region in a wider range of areas like trade and investment, green partnerships, quality infrastructure, digital partnerships etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the prospects of India-Europe\u00a0relations\u00a0now?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

India\u2019s strategy is to\u00a0<\/span>\u201ccultivate Europe\u201d <\/span><\/b>was not the top priority in the past. But now India is now focussing on developing a strong partnership with the EU and engage all its 27 members.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the deepening confrontation between the US and China begins to squeeze South East Asia, Europe is widely seen as widening the<\/span>\u00a0strategic options<\/span><\/b> for the\u00a0Indo-Pacific\u00a0region.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What does Europe offer to India?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

EU outlined a strategy for India in 2018 to focus on<\/span>\u00a0four themes\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u2014 sustainable economic\u00a0modernisation, promotion of a rules-based order, foreign policy coordination, and security cooperation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

EU\u2019s Indo-Pacific strategy seeks to promote an open and rules-based regional security architecture, including secure sea lines of communication.<\/span><\/p>\n

EU and India agreed to resume\u00a0<\/span>free trade talks<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and develop a new connectivity partnership that would widen options for the world beyond the Belt and Road Initiative.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the advantages for India if engaged with the EU?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

It could help strengthen the military balance and contribute to<\/span>\u00a0regional security<\/span><\/b>\u00a0in multiple other ways.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It would also be a valuable complement to India\u2019s Quad coalition with Australia, Japan and the United States.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Europe \u2014 with greater economic weight, technological strength, and normative power \u2014 can boost India\u2019s own quest for a\u00a0<\/span>multipolar world<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and a\u00a0<\/span>rebalanced Indo-Pacific<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
