The\u00a0<\/span>spacecraft<\/span><\/b>, a deep-space robotic archaeologist named\u00a0<\/span>Lucy\u00a0<\/span><\/b>will study the geology, composition, density\u00a0and structure of the Trojans.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After a six-year cruise, Lucy will fly close to seven Trojan\u00a0asteroids by 2033.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NASA\u00a0is interested in finding\u00a0<\/span>primordial organic materia<\/span><\/b>l\u00a0on asteroids because billions of years\u00a0ago, they may have seeded Earth with the chemical\u00a0ingredients necessary for life.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are Trojan asteroids?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Trojan asteroids are the asteroids that orbit around the Sun near the orbit of Jupiter. These asteroids move in their own stable orbits in fixed points either ahead or behind the orbit of Jupiter (called Lagrangian Points)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dawn\u00a0mission (NASA)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0orbited Ceres and Vesta\u00a0the two largest worlds in the belt between Mars and Jupiter.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hayabusa mission (JAXA-Japan)\u00a0<\/span><\/b>probed asteroid\u00a0\u201cRyugu\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
