Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP): Insurance Scheme for Health Care Workers Fighting COVID-19 has been<\/span> extended for 180 days <\/span>with effect from October 21,2021.So far, 1,351 claims have been paid under the scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n Launched by: <\/b>It is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare<\/strong> in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n Aim: <\/b>To provide comprehensive personal accident insurance cover of Rs. 50 lakh to all healthcare providers who<\/span><\/p>\n -Lost their lives due to Covid-19<\/span><\/p>\n -Accidental death on account of COVID-19 related duty.<\/span><\/p>\n Coverage of the Scheme<\/b><\/p>\n -All government health centres, wellness centres and hospitals of Centre as well as States,<\/span><\/p>\n -Private hospital staff and retired\/volunteer\/local urban bodies\/contracted\/daily wage workers,<\/span><\/p>\n -Safai karamcharis, ward-boys, nurses, ASHA workers and other health workers.<\/span><\/p>\n Implementation: <\/b>The scheme is being implemented through an Insurance policy from the New India Assurance Company<\/strong>(NIACL).<\/span><\/p>\n Certification Procedure<\/b>: <\/span>The District Collector in each case will be certifying that the claim is in accordance with SoP of the Scheme.
