It is a class of\u00a0diesel-electric\u00a0attack submarine.<\/p>\n<p>Khanderi and Vikrant<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The second Scorpene submarine will begin sea trials on June 1.<\/li>\n<li>As for the construction of the first indigenous aircraft-carrier\u00a0Vikrant, it would start trials in 2019 and take delivery in 2020.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More about INS Khanderi<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The state-of-the-art features in the submarine include superior stealth and ability to launch a crippling attack on the enemy using precision guided weapon.<\/li>\n<li>The attack from it can be launched with torpedoes, as well as tube-launched anti-ship missiles, whilst on surface or underwater.<\/li>\n<li>The stealth features gives it invulnerability, unmatched by many submarines.<\/li>\n<li>The submarine is designed to operate in all theatres, including the tropics.<\/li>\n<li>All means and communications are provided to ensure interoperability with other components of a Naval task force.<\/li>\n<li>It can undertake multifarious types of missions typically undertaken by any modern submarine such as anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence gathering, area surveillance, mine laying etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Scorpene submarines<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0Scorp\u00e8ne-class submarines\u00a0are a class of\u00a0diesel-electricattack submarines\u00a0jointly developed by the\u00a0French Direction des Constructions Navales\u00a0(DCN) and the\u00a0Spanish\u00a0company\u00a0Navantia, and now by\u00a0DCNS.<\/li>\n<li>It features diesel propulsion and an additional\u00a0air-independent propulsion(AIP).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Project 751-class submarine<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0Project 75I-class submarine\u00a0is follow-on of the\u00a0Project 75\u00a0Kalvari-class submarinefor the\u00a0Indian navy.<\/li>\n<li>Under this project, the Indian Navy intends to acquire 6 diesel-electric submarines, which will also feature advanced\u00a0Air Independent Propulsion(AIP) systems to enable them to stay submerged for longer duration and substantially increase their operational range.<\/li>\n<li>The P-75I submarines will be more modern and advanced with all of them equipped with Air Independent Propulsion modules to enhance the reach and stealth characteristics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About Kalvari The\u00a0Kalvari\u00a0class\u00a0is a\u00a0class\u00a0of\u00a0submarines\u00a0based on the\u00a0Scorp\u00e8ne-class\u00a0submarine\u00a0being built for the\u00a0Indian Navy.
