Petrochemicals<\/strong>:\u00a0A JV between RIL and Russia\u2019s\u00a0Sibur\u00a0Elastomers established South Asia\u2019s first\u00a0butyl and halogenated butyl rubber plant in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The plant meets India\u2019s domestic needs and the surplus is exported to Asia, Europe, the US and Brazil among others.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Refineries<\/strong>: ONGC, IOCL and Gazprom have signed up MOUs regarding setting up of refineries in India in line with IEA\u2019s Energy Outlook 2021<\/a>,\u00a0 identifying India as critical refining hub in Asia.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nuclear energy<\/span><\/b>: Russian companies have been involved in the construction of six nuclear reactors in the\u00a0<\/span>Kudankulam\u00a0nuclear power project<\/span><\/b>\u00a0at\u00a0<\/span>Tamil Nadu<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What can be done?<\/h5>\n

Renewable Energy: India has installed 100GW of renewable energy capacity<\/span>. To meet th<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0target<\/span>\u00a0of 450 GW capacity by 2030<\/span>, investments of USD 500 billion are required in infrastructure, grid expansion and s<\/span>torage<\/span>. The Nuclear Energy ca<\/span>pacity target for 2031 is 22.5GW<\/span>, up<\/span>\u00a0from 6.7GW at present.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Russia\u2019s Energy Minister, almost all of Russia\u2019s major energy companies were interested in projects in India. So both governments have to provide the necessary support and facilitate corporate leaders to grasp the potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
