The Prime Minister has addressed the nation on the occasion of National Unity Day also known as <\/span>Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. <\/b>He also paid rich tribute to Sardar Patel who dedicate his life for the ideal of \u2018Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat\u2019.<\/p>\n National Unity Day is celebrated every year on 31st October to commemorate the birth anniversary<\/strong> of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.<\/span><\/p>\n The day was celebrated for the first time in 2014<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2018, the Government unveiled the \u2018Statue of Unity<\/strong>\u2019 in Gujarat in the honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It is the tallest statue<\/strong> in the world. In 2020, <\/span>Statue of Unity has also been included in the <\/span>8 wonders of Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO).<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Sardar Vallabhai Patel was the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of India.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He is known as the<\/span> \u201cIron Man of India\u201d<\/b> for playing an important role in unification and <\/span>integration of <\/b>Indian princely states<\/b> into the Indian Union.<\/span><\/p>\n He is also remembered as the “<\/span>patron saint of India’s civil servants”<\/b> for having established the modern <\/span>All India Services<\/b> system.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Click Here to Read more about Sardar Patel<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cEk Bharat Shreshtha Bharat\u201d Initiative was announced by the Prime Minister in 2015.<\/p>\n Aim:<\/strong> To enhance interaction & promote mutual understanding between people of different states\/UTs through the concept of state\/UT pairing.<\/p>\n For example<\/strong>, Andhra Pradesh is paired with Punjab.
