Who has prepared the document for the Ganges river dolphins?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Prepared by<\/b>: <\/span>Turtle Survival Alliance <\/span><\/a>and the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department (EFCCD) of the Uttar Pradesh Government.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on<\/b>: Years of experience of rescuing 25 Ganges river dolphins stranded in irrigation canals.<\/span><\/p>\n

About Gangetic River Dolphin<\/b><\/h5>\n

The Ganges river dolphin (<\/span>Platanista gangetica <\/span><\/i>gangetica<\/span><\/i>) <\/span><\/i>was officially discovered in 1801.<\/span><\/p>\n

Habitat<\/b>: It is found <\/span>throughout the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna and Karnaphuli-Sangu river systems of Nepal, India and Bangladesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

Population<\/b>: The global population is estimated at 4,000 and is mostly found in the Indian subcontinent.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
