What is the News?<\/b><\/p>\n
The Government of India has appointed <\/span>eight judicial and ten technical members at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).<\/span><\/p>\n What is NCLT?<\/b><\/p>\n National Company Law Tribunal(NCLT) <\/b>is a quasi-judicial body constituted under section 408 of the Companies Act, 2013 in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n Committee<\/b>: The tribunal was established <\/span>based on the recommendation of the <\/span>V. Balakrishna Eradi<\/span> committee on the law relating to insolvency and the winding up of companies.<\/span><\/p>\n Purpose:<\/b> The tribunal deals with <\/span>matters mainly related to companies law and insolvency law.<\/span><\/p>\n Term of Members:<\/b> The <\/span>Companies Act fixes the term of office of chairperson and members of all NCLTs at five years or 65 years, whichever is earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n Appeals:<\/b> Decisions of the NCLT may be appealed to the <\/span>National Company Law Appellate Tribunal <\/span>(NCLAT).
