{"id":146534,"date":"2021-11-13T20:06:50","date_gmt":"2021-11-13T14:36:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=146534"},"modified":"2021-11-17T13:49:11","modified_gmt":"2021-11-17T08:19:11","slug":"iit-kanpur-develops-web-based-green-monitoring-system-for-ganga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/iit-kanpur-develops-web-based-green-monitoring-system-for-ganga\/","title":{"rendered":"IIT Kanpur develops web-based &#8216;green&#8217; monitoring system for Ganga"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Kanpur has developed an Aquatic Autonomous Observatory named Niracara Svayamsasita Vedh Shala(NSVS) to monitor the \u201chealth\u201d of the River Ganga.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This observatory has been developed with the help of the Department of Science and Technology, the Government of India, and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF).<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is Niracara Svayamsasita Vedh Shala(NSVS)?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a low-cost, water quality monitoring platform that would enable in situ monitoring, real-time data transmission and web-based visualisation of River Ganga.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>How does NSVS work?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NSVS consists of an array of sensors and auto sampler on a stationary platform that is semi-submersible, all-weather, robust and perfectly stable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system can sense three parameters namely, pH (a scale to measure acidity\/alkalinity), conductivity and dissolved oxygen capacity of water.
