The Prime Minister will formally hand over the advanced electronic warfare system \u2018Shakti\u2019 to the Chief of Naval Staff at a ceremony in Jhansi.<\/span><\/p>\n Shakti is an advanced electronic warfare(EW) system<\/strong> developed for the Indian Navy.<\/span><\/p>\n Designed and Developed by: <\/b>\u00a0Defence Electronics Research Laboratory in Hyderabad, which is part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).<\/span><\/p>\n Aim: <\/b>To provide an electronic layer of defence against modern radars and anti-ship missiles to ensure survivability in the maritime battlefield.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/b>First Shakti system<\/b> has been installed on-board INS Visakhapatnam and is being installed on-board Indigenous Aircraft Carrier, INS Vikrant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Firstly,<\/b> it has been designed for the <\/span>Indian Navy\u2019s capital warships<\/b> for the purposes of interception, detection, classification, identification and jamming of conventional and modern radars.<\/span><\/p>\n Secondly,<\/b> the system has been integrated with the wideband <\/span>electronic support measures (ESM) and electronic countermeasures <\/b>for the defence of Indian Navy ships against missile attacks.
