The President of India has <\/span>addressed the Swachh Amrit Mahotsav and presented the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n Swachh Survekshan is an<\/span> annual survey of cleanliness,<\/b> hygiene and sanitation in cities and towns across India.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It was launched as part of the <\/span>Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, <\/b>which aimed to make India clean and free of open defecation by 2nd October 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The first survey<\/b> was undertaken in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n Conducted by:<\/b>\u00a0 Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) with Quality Council of India (QCI) as its implementation partner.<\/span><\/p>\n Parameters: <\/b>The cities have been ranked based on three broad parameters \u2014 service level progress, citizen’s voice and certification.<\/span><\/p>\n Population above 1 lakh: <\/b>Indore has been ranked the cleanest city in India for the fifth consecutive year. <\/span>Surat and Vijayawada were ranked as the second and third-cleanest cities.<\/span><\/p>\n Population Below 1 lakh<\/b>: <\/span>Vita, Lonavala and Saswad all from Maharashtra, bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n The Cleanest States with more than 100 urban local bodies (ULBs): <\/b>Chhattisgarh retained the first position in the \u201ccleanest state\u201d title. Bihar was the worst performer in this category.<\/span><\/p>\n Cleanest state award in the less than 100 ULBs category:<\/b> Jharkhand, was given the cleanest state in this category.
